Unlocked thoughts of a Prophet's Temple concept & how it will be released

1st CHAMBER UNLOCKED

My book,(Unlocked thoughts of a Prophet's Temple) if you were unaware, will be "unlocked" soon. In parts anyway. I've decided that I'll be releasing my 5 chapter chapbook, for now, with each chapter as separated books themselves. The first one slated to be ready during this winter 2011(February) at the latest. And will be subtitled: "Humble Beginnings". Final preparation is in affect(including cover design and any last minute editing/proof reading as needed). It will be release under publishing company, 2 Pens & Lint. Followed by the other chapters (Which I call each through out the book, "Chambers") 2nd Chamber: Cussing a Curse wit Worse Verse; 3rd Chamber: L.O.L. (Lessons of Love); 4th Chamber: Spoken Soldier and 5th, Final Chamber: Unlocked Thoughts of a Prophets Temple. Those last two Chambers will be release as 1 book together since the last chamber will have nothing else but, the title poem in it.

If your also clueless as to what my book will be about, basically it is, : a look into my trials and tribulations as a said, "Prophet/soothsayer" with affirmations, passages and poems to express them in a creative understanding form. Over almost the past 3 decades and mainly the past half decade of things I went through. So in some aspect you can say its part autobiographical.

Sometime down the line I may/will re-release a revise version of my book as 1 solid book with all "Chambers" included. At a date TBD. There are other books in the works beside this one which you may dig to. But more about that another time. Just know the first of 5 will be out soon. And I look forward to your feedback. Now I know whats probably on you mind too, the question of, "Why not just release the whole book instead of in parts...?" Well, that was the original idea at first. But, It would have taken longer than I'd planned,(not that I was planning to/am rushing it out without thoroughly making sure everything's on point) and didn't have the financial resources to put it out as a full book. Then, after some friendly input to release the project in parts to save money...I was still a lil hesitant, but looked as the best avenue to take. Then thought bout it again, minus it just being a cost effective move. The bulb in my head went off, telling me it would be good marketing to follow this route as well. So from there, I ran with it.

Some Unlocked thoughts....and revelations 2

As I sit here in my room at 7:56am on a Saturday morn...can't help but, just think.

Realizing this is my first blog of self assessment this year, my future still in my hands.

Going through some internal twist and turns via my heart, mind and soul about some of the women in my life. The choices I've made, and the changes I plan to make of weighing my progress down type, bad habits. So far, I still have unshakable feelings for, this woman I've developed a soul stirring instant bond with...over that past year. They were hard to describe at first. Even though a stable friendship is apparent, something inside still wants to take it up a level in the long run. Whether she'll come to the same conclusion as my heart, only time will tell.

And my other dear female friends I've known for some time are baring burdens I empathize with, to a distinct degree. That mind weighs heavy for them. And I pray there temporary pain and struggle...subsides to a point that they can live. I love them like fam. So it hurts me too an extent when they going through it. I almost feel like my own burn notice I partly developed over some time, has my Karma, backlashing into their lives. But I don't wanna sound like I'm making their trials and tribulations bout me.

My over analyzing of things and situations and the need to get to the bottom of it, has gotten the best of me at times. But shit is crazy now a days. Plus hearing news reports about mysterious birds and animal deaths. Economic resources (including some food) is running down in short supply. Cause bad weather is doing more damage to crops than b4. Over the the next few years or so, Water levels in NYC may rise to a point to over flood the whole city. (Not a good look) I'm like WTF...? Also, apparently a new zodiac sign to astrology has given the rest a twist of fate altering the signs of most held dear since birth. Technicalities and all. smh.

Anyway, I've come to some re- revelations as well as news ones as of late.

Many of my bad habits (like most other people) can be summed up with the old adage, "If you keep doing what you been doing. You gone keep getting what you been getting". Thing is, my CP Time with people, places and things. As well as my Procrastination and for some strange reason, a fear of success to a degree...have pointed in a neg. light with that saying. Affecting my will and determination to be employed again. Affecting my financial state and also hindering my guarantee to my self, to get back to my academics and get my desired degrees (a BS in business management, AS in some discipline of engineering and a Masters in another field). But Sitting on my ass and saying it that I'd do this and that have never really been my style. So from this point I'm gone be like Nike with my actions...and JUST DO IT!! You know about it, for the most part when I'm done and ready for you to acknowledge my moves. This entry today will be my testimony and reality check to remind me....TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! STOP FUCKING AROUND AND CREATE THE AVENUES OF ACCOMPLISHMENT AND ACHIEVEMENT TO MAKE MY ASS HAPPY ALREADY!!

I think this is an appropriate time to end this log and get to business on the grindaholic road 2 redemption. And shake this sluggish energy fully off I've felt since the year started. By the grace of the universe and almighty, with the power and means to become available, I'll be on my way to Chicago by Sunday morn/afternoon. Its about that time.

The Top 10 reasons you shouldn't talk about how long someone takes in the bathroom (especially when they can hear you outside the door)

1. You should know better and...shut the F' up.

2. Do you got next...? If so, learn some damn patience!! especially if you just gotta pee!! Hold it damn it! And if you gotta weak bladder, and you a dude...get your stuff checked Mofo!

3. Do you even care...? I mean, how would you feel if someone did that to you or a relative of yours in a public place...? not so justifyable.

4.Who the hell are you to judge...? So it only took you what...5...10 mins. to bless the bowl and you were done. Just like that. You didn't take that long. So, what,now you want a f'n medal...?!

5. Did it ever occur to you that its not a smart idea to talk about this person doing they

do..do...especially when they can hear your ass right outside the damn door?! Numb nuts.

6. When was there a time limit put on how long a man/woman's bowel movements should last...? So you the parceling God I see.

7. I should leave the door open a little just out of spite to give you something to complain about.

8. I'm surprised you can't do nothing better with your time beside talk trash while someone is taking a Dukie...I don't know.....unless there is its the only toilet occupied and you have no choice but to...whats that word again..? Oh yea, WAIT!!

9. You have no idea what this person ate. Coulda been lasagna, with extra cheese, for lunch and beef stew for dinner, not to mention maybe bacon and eggs for breakfast. So this indivisual s could be really, UNLOADING something awful in that bowl.(a.k.a having the "Bubble Guts") So I dare you to go in there and try to get them off of there, with all your friggin complaining. I swear, I swear...you will regret it!!

Any fans too if around. Close and lock all windows. And while in there with you, I'd say, "Remember that time you were talking about someone stinking up the place in the bathroom; and you didn't know or think they could hear you...? Well, that someone was, me!! And I heard every word you said." Then next, strap or tie you to a chair; cause I knew my bubble guts was coming because I chose what I ate, just for this moment...go right near your face and unleash, "THE SILENCER". Just let it marinate and engulf the room. While sticking around just to watch you suffer. And hey, I can stand the stench of my own stink.

Worse Case Scenario (wrong place, wrong time)

This afternoon, after dozing off late this morning. I had a dream. One of the worse case scenarios I'd never imagine being caught up in. Pissed me off and freaked me out at the same time!! Now, I'm type this from memory because I literally just awoke from it. So forgive me if the details are a little sketchy.

Was roaming outside. Its was either mid morn or early afternoon, I think.

Minding my own business. I believe I was somewhere in downtown Brooklyn or Mid town Manhattan. Felt like I was in BK....but anyway. Happened to walk near this thrift/dept. type discount store. And decided to go inside. WRONG MOVE. while I was window shopping/scouting anything I may want to buy on this visit, I noticed a brother in a wheel chair. Apparently crippled, key word, "apparently". With at least one female and a few other dudes around them. Chilling close to the entrance. When I was done perusing the store and decided nothing was worth purchasing today. Was on my way out. accidentally bumped into dude in the wheel chair, coming out the exit/entrance. He threatened me. (Don't recall what he said)

To some aspect, I apologized before things got heated, said it was my fault and was about to head on bout my business. When little did I know, these MoFo's had the police after them!! Because a shit load of patrol cars and vans started to flood this area. Immediately after that incident. And these individuals started to scatter like roaches in my apt. when the lights cut on. Remember when I told you the key word about the brother in the wheel chair, apparently crippled....well, as if the healing touch of God was set upon him, he got up out that chair, gunning it down the block like a bat out of hell!! I decided to started to rush my in a separate direction also. out of dodge of 5-O, (I think that term is still used to describe them now a days, anyway) cause you know in the hood, you guilty by suspicion and association. Despite how brief my convo was with that supposedly paraplegic brother, if they saw me talking to dude, they'd think I was with them. And what do you know, they started pursuit of me while I was hustling off.

I decided to keep it moving. Even though I knew I was innocent. Started having flash backs of the Chamillionaire video/track, "Hip hop Police". Knowing if they caught me, they would have a lot of questions I wouldn't, didn't and couldn't supply answers too. So I manage to find another store or storage area around town to lay low for a while. Little did I know after roaming in the back, around a lot of people, peeked outside the widow...only to already see two uniforms waiting outside. And noticed one had creped up in the area I was. I managed to slip my way out the spot. But guess what, not only to run into the same, fake cripple from the discount store earlier and his crew, but also the same uniformed cops that where in chase of all of us!! I said out loud with out hesitation , while being cuffed, "Ain't this bout a mother fucker!!"

Thinking to myself on the way and upon my arrival at the station, "How the fuck did I get caught up in this Bullshit today...?" Now at the station, was being roughed into the scanning and finger printing area, by this big ass (enter derogatory racial obscenity word here) that was all up on me!! grabbing on me. Taking my coat off when I was already starting to. Felt me up and shit, some was I felt was improper...and suspect....I was pleading my case of having nothing to do with those other hoodlums. But it fell on deaf ears. I felt like I was fucked either way, so I swung on his ass. And made contact. But before the dream took another turn for the worse, in my case....I woke up.

This was also another case when keeping it real goes wrong!! Damn!!

Parole Pou Ayiti (Words for Haiti) @Circle of Hope/1st official show in Philly, new bounds

Wow.....

...is one of many things I can say about my first trip back to PA in years. Specifically, Philadelphia. First off, I'd definitely like to thank my brother in "Werds" & knowledge, Werdsman (poet) for the opportunity and honor; of feat. for a good cause. Circle of Hope was a very welcoming venue. Though the ride to Philly(abt. 3hrs.) was cool too. The jokes...the shit we talked...bananas!! Lol. Took a extra couple mins to locate the place when arriving. But good folks behind the event, April and the two other sisters (forgot their names, but were fun to hang w/after leaving the spot); we nice and attentive to me, SoSoon and Werdsman upon arrival.

I ended up starting the show off with a bang! With 4 pieces I introduce myself to Philly with. My cam mem. card only had enough to rec. 3 1/2 of them though. :( Did some of my classics, "Ode to the Poet (Will you spit or swallow..?), "This Woman" (one of my newer ones), "Beat the Beast" and a brand new one I finished my set of with called, "Unfinished". I dug how much they were captivated by my work and got an experience out of it. :) The young youth poet, Jamillah ripped the stage as well. I'm feeling her work. And she on the Philly youth slam team. Only 18 yrs/old! Banger!! One o the next banger artists, was another one of my brothers in Words & knowledge, MC SoSoon. All of his tracks were gr8! Shout out to him, and my sister in words & Knowledge, NASSUNNI da Poet!! Good peoples!! :) Kilt it herself on the mic. Much love for her, and those eyes...whooo...she lucky she spoken for. Thats all I'm saying. smh.

Open mikers where good too. Good to hear some new styles from a brother by the name of Christopher. And a familiar poem used by another open mic artist via poet laureate/teacher Taylor Moli. Who also used to teach. (With much encouragement, performed that piece with the right amount of potency required)

Also, at the end of the show I gained some new friends and supporters. Not to mention, a new lil fan. lol. One of the features(Claudia Streets) son came up behind me an gave my legs a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig hug. smh. Handsome lil devil. Seems my words are reaching multiple generations!! Yay!! :o) After the show, me and my bandit brothers 3, from...new york, and two sisters behind the show as well as two of the open micers....went out to dinner. We ain't good. Definitely had nuff hearty laughs to go with an equally hearty meal. And for all my fam and friends that keep suggesting and requested....yes I got a official Philly Cheese steak before leaving town. I got pics to prove it too!! Lmao!!

Anyway, lastly but not least, I swear, I almost went into Philly single and came out...spoken for. Some banger looking sisters where every place we went. Lawd have mercy! And there was this one chick, that when we finally found a parking spot, a few blks from the restaurant; was at her car across the street from us....barefoot. And I was thinking, when she got out the car, has she been driving that way too...? (by the way, a cute ass milk chocolate queen) even when she got back in her ride and, drove off bare feet mind you, couldn't stop thinking bout her....for the next 5-10 min. All was on my mind was her and Usher's "Lil freak" playing in my head. 4real! Lol!!

I now made a discovery....that fine ass women, especially from Philly, that walk and drive around bare feet....is mad sexy to me. B-)

Ok, now, lastly, before leaving the restaurant(which was called Philly Reef), we all got together for a photo opt. So then, our party of 7 became a party of 5 when the two brothas from open mic part of the show called it a night. Afterward, the two ladies, which we walked back to their car, did the same. Our last destination b4 Trip out of Philly, Fat Tuesdays. SoSoon had him a drink. And I got a $1 shot to wake me up some. Since I was getting hit hard by the "ITIS" from the meal early on. It was well past midnight by then. But as soon as it hit around 2am, the club shut down for the night. Now I'm sure there were still spots in NY bumping around this time for sure. :)Culminating the night, we headed back on the road to NY. PHILLY....YOU ARE NOW MY 3RD UNOFFICIAL HOME!! As far as performing goes and cause your breathtaking women thats flooded you in your streets. :-D I look forward to coming back with product on hand in the future!

RL THA GIFTED 1: THE AMBASSADOR

What can I say about this carefully craft poetic work...?

Ambassador: 1: an official envoy; especially: a diplomatic agent of the highest rank accredited to a foreign government or sovereign as the resident representative of his or her own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment.
2 a: an authorized representative or messenger b: an unofficial representative (Merriam Webster definition)

Now, I've had the pleasure and opportunity to meet, see him live, (on more than one occasion) and listen to his previous albums. And I have to say, in comparison, this is one of RL's best projects yet. He hasn’t disappointed with the previous works. Especially with guest appearances, such as: ItsReaLight, "The Oracle" Autumn Ashante, Kassim Allah…among others. This time around, along the ride are the likes of: Zulema Cheek (Soul/R&B singer w/a sound that puts a good feeling in ya soul); Conquest the Torchbearer; Salvation; and also Young Timothy & Mr John Duncan.

I think that over all, it was an exceptional banger project. I liked the two tracks w/Zulema Cheek ("U Got Me” & “Destiny” {A piece he dedicated to wife}) This Soulful queens vocals/classic voice; helps moves your spirit with every note she belts out. Which is a pleasant mesh with RL's declaration in his lyrical liquor he spits...which is God driven.

The poetic Scriptures for your ears, gets into a spiritual/air out type of cleansing with "Ya Dig" Calling out, not all by names, on how he continues his unstoppable journey. Which in my opinion is one take charge track helps define title of this well needed EP.

Then there is piece called, "Piece of me. This one maybe stands out the most to me. Due to the fact on how real RL keeps it bout the state of Poetry and the many that have misused, "her". Whether in slams and open mics and what not. Reminiscence of the ol' school hip hop MC's such as KRS-One to Big Daddy Kane and Kool G-Rap; that call ducks, what they were, ducks. False Prophets, that spit nothing mentally prophet able and quarreled over pettiness in the game; given the art a bad name.

When’s the last time you could count on more than one hand, an artists,(in this case spoken word) that had joints on their CD that made you say,: "Tell me about it!!" "I'm feeling this right here son!!" or even, "Say word!". These are phases I found myself saying while hearing RL's Ambassador CD.RL does represent by living up to the title he claims as an appointed/anointed as diplomatic messenger, of spoken word, with the last track, "After All".
It speaks on the historical social/political, slipping/ills of the world, and art world from hip hop to poetry. To quote part of the chorus, "After all, after all; we dropped the ball, we dropped the ball. We take the fall. We take the fall..."

It’s very relevant, that by anyone not copping this album...they missing a blessing. He also, mentions in the liner notes, one of the people this album was dedicated to the memory of his Mother. And for the record, I'm not being bias because he originally from my home back yawed of BK and I know him. lol. I just happen to recognize good piece of work by a talented artist when I listen to it. But see the other tracks didn't feel, or should I say didn't stick out to me as much as the ones I mentioned above. This doesn't mean that if you listen to them you'll feel the same. "Different strokes, for different folks". Lyrically, RL doesn't slack when getting his point across in every rhyme. After following this brother for the past 3 projects now, I believe his growth as a writer, artist and man...is in a sky’s the limit destination from here.

Like I said, I got to see RL in action again a month ago in the Bx. You’re missing an experience by not connecting with my fellow brother in words, and knowledge. My Latest Interview & Respect & Thoughts on GURU passing

Over the Weekend (Sat. April 17th), and just b4 my show at the Shrine in Harlem, I had my first live interview in some months now. (last one was Nov. 10th 2009) In this interview on BTR (Blog talk radio) I was also feat. along side Native Son and 13 of Nazareth. Two other great writers/spoken word artist I admire. With a unexpected guest that called in also. In this interview, I discuss my background and some of my most certified pieces and share a new one, called "Unfinished". I also discussed along with the other artist about my legacy and what type I wanna leave for future generation in spoken word. Believe me when I say, it was a honor and pleasure being on panel with my amazing brethren in words and knowledge.

**side note**: I'd also like to send my prayers and condolences to the family of hip-hop legend GURU (Keith Elam) of the group Gang Starr. Who recently lost his battle with cancer at age 43; after being in a coma since early this year. Respect to GURU and his groundbreaking, standard setting, edutaining flows and contributions. I'm definitely one, of many that grew up on some Gang Starr in the early '90s. Thanks for leaving a legacy to resound for young MC's to come.

Recently, I got the honorary opportunity to feat. for the 1st time at the Nuyorican (Feb. 27th) It was kinda a draining night for me. And I got more "Honest" than I ever have in any other feature performance to date. I wasn't in church, but I did, in s sense make a confession to the congregation. Time 2 make due...

Peace my people,

I write this last blog of '09 during the last 10 mins of the year. Its been a very trying year for me. With finding out my school temp. dismissed me. Came to the unruly conclusion that A woman I thought I knew and had a relationship with turned into a beautiful disaster love affair that left some 3rd degree burns on my heart. And one of the most unfortunate highlights of my year being, when the ceiling of my own room fell in on me.

It wasn't until I decided to check out a spot in here in Brooklyn for an open mic. At Soule Restaurant that I hit a turning point back in late July. The energy and the love of the new additions to my poetic family helped give me the strength to make it to this point. And the new recognition for and of my work made my soul smile. Though still no love in my life, my blood and literary fam did a lot for me.

I'll make this blog a short one. And finish by saying, thank God for guiding the right kind of people in my life when I needed it. I look forward to positive and prosperous new yr .and decade ahead.

Some Unlocked thoughts....and revolations

Peace my TCM people, This quick blast is with no particular big announcement in mind. But Just let know my current thoughts at this very moment. A lots been on my mind lately. But I'll be brief here to take up as lil of your time as possible. My writing and certain aspect of my life have been in question as of late. As well of my actions concerned with issues I'm far overdue to address in my personal life outside venues and off stage. Know, that none of these questions have been brought up by anyone besides yours truly. Like Why..? Or Why haven't I..? I know I'm being mad vague. But My soon to be finished book, "Unlocked Thoughts of a Prophet's Temple" Has been making my mind vibrate bout concerns I shouldn't and can't ignore bout myself going into this new decade with. Most you will hopefully understand and take what you will from my book. As some have read in my last most recent post, I mentioned bout the 1st of more fundraisers and ways the Freedom 4 Thomas movement was set in motion with. And there are more events to come and ways to help a fellow educated young brother/student(honor roll)/mentor and teacher/activist/Inspirational poet in words & knowledge. No ones brother/sister/friend or son thats black(or any other color considered a "minority") should have this done to them based on societal bias stigma statistics. We don't need another innocent young black man behind bars. We need more raising them like Thomas. Keep this poetic youth in your prayers, like I will and watch the videos below for more info. Please do what you can. Incarcerating the this man isn't a solution. Its a problem. Help solve it the right way.

I know this is kind of late and its been a while. But just wanted to re inform anyone reading this bout a brother named Elysee Thomas, young poet/community leader who is currently incarcerated. He is in need of help and support to get through this trying time this unreasonable, unnecessary arrest. So tonight,December 10th, in Newark, NJ @ the Key Club, 58 Park place. 8pm-10pm. Well, Its been a little while. But its finally within less than 24 hrs. away!! If you didn't know, since beginning my performance stint in poetry/spoken word 3 yrs. ago. I've performed many times over the tristate metro area. Featured in almost every borough....except Brooklyn. Now I've performed numerous time in BK over the years. But the long awaited chance was answered when The Perch cafe(in Park slope) reached out to me for an opportunity to their feature for Nov. 10th installment of the Literary reading series.

After a week or so of back n forth emails about the specifics, it was finalized a few weeks back. So as of tomorrow evening, from 7pm-8:30pm w/open mic following me; Dtruth will set you free @ The Perch!! Feel free to come through and experience me in a way and type of openness you could never get the chance to see again. Rebirth, Reevaluation &Responsibility

As many may know by now I recently celebrated my 26th yr. of existence this past Tuesday,on Oct.27th. Now 4 yrs closer to not being considered a "Youth" anymore. So through the past couple of days I've felt the love and rejoice of me reaching the milestone of being one more young black man to live past 25. This to me is a gift & a blessing.

I've been pondering the past few days bout the direction my life is heading. Do I continue to take this passion I have for the art of spoken word on a professional level like so many have asked...or do I the unconscious decision to keep it as a side thing to pursue other avenues...? I guess in a way without realizing it, after 3 yrs now of traveling the tristate area and such, in a way I have. But while pursuing this God given gift to make it everything that it could and should be in my eyes...I can't ignore and be blinded to the fact that I have other responsibilities that call my attention.

Lord knows I'm one of many that have bills to pay. And a responsibility to myself and family to finish college. I've come too far, too long and going through enough sleepless nights and struggle, as well as my parents, not get a degree. And unfortunately in society, in todays society period, your not qualified to get through any barriers or considered "intelligent" if you don't have a college degree in something. Though I do plan to and will earn one or two, a college degree doesn't define me. I understand its a social basic tool of survival. Especially in todays recession plagued nation.

Due to the nudge of some of the Lords soldiers allowing me to discover one of my purposes of deliver his life saving "WORDS" in the form of poetry & prose. However, feel there is more I have yet to discover and embrace as far as gifts are concerned. As of what...I'm gone need a sign to make that clear. I'm still one of Gods greatest works of poetry thats not ready to put end to with a period. Like I've mentioned many times before, I'm on a road to redemption. So until I finally hit that cross roads leading to my final destination and divine purpose...I'm gone keep it moving as the spoken soldier in me has done.

I thought I'd address this issue as it pertained to me recently.(an old argument, but still relevant) I'm @ a point now were its not in my best interest to do much free feat. (unless its for a cause) And I don't mean the, "ARTIST FEATURES AND PERFORMS HIS ASS OFF TO PUT MONEY IN YOUR POCKET WHILE HE GETS SHANKED OF ANY REPARATIONS WHETHER HE HAS PRODUCT W/HIM/HER OR NOT" fund. I'm an in the streets artist, not an industry artist! I'm using one of my God given talents in a positive productive way to help/bring my brethren and me closer...I just happen to entertaining the people willing to listen! Come correct. Just ass you'd have any artist come proper @ you about featuring in your spot. This is a F'n recession, that may be a widely used "excuse" but its true!! (As far as other artist are concerned, I'm preaching to the choir here)

Read Taalam Acey's "Excellent Exposure", the actual poem.(cop the book w/same title too though) it talks specifically bout this type of artist/promoter artistic prostitution. I'm just saying....

What I say bout last night...? Didn't I say it wasn't a performance to miss..?!! Ok. maybe not in so many words but it wasn't. Ya boy Abe was in rare form!!
One thing I gotta say is after the first 30 mins of my feat. I got the room so hot and bothered....that Zera Priestess (the host) had to give herself and the crowd a 5 or so min. break. Lol. You had to be there to find out what pieces I performed caused that!! (^_^) :-D

It was a great experience feat. in the Bx for the 1st time. I told people I'd be on point. Wasn't I Zera..? ;) Big shout out to the couple Toyia & her husband Patrick who came to NY, all the way from Ohio, to the show celebrating their 3yr ann. Glad I made it worth the trip! :-)

Oooooh!! If I had some CD's on hand I'm telling you, I'd have sold out of them before I left the venue. But I'll make sure to have something on hand in the future, no doubt. Recently I got word from a friend that use to live in this part of Ohio, that her brother was murdered by two gun men he knew. But didn't see coming till it was too late. Right in front of his wife, children and other sister who was with him at the time. Its sad to see the "brutus complex" as I call it, still alive in a vicious cycle of betayal in this day an age. The Plight of Being Empathic

How many times have you had an unexplainable emotion or thought only to learn later in the day that one of your loved ones was having a similar experience? Perhaps that person was going through something emotionally difficult but you experienced the symptoms? What about experiencing pain that just comes and goes all of a sudden or lingers for a while? Again, later you find out that a loved one was having some physical pain, but yet you experienced the symptoms. Strange or is it? What did you do once you discovered that your loved one was going through changes? Did you dismiss your experience as an odd phenomenon?

What if I were to tell you that these odd experiences have a name to them and that YOU are also defined within this name? The truth of the matter is that none of the above is as odd or strange as you may believe. If you have ever experienced other persons' emotions or physical symptoms then you are considered what is called an EMPATH.

Empathy is defined as: the intellectual identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another. However, an EMPATH is someone who energetically absorbs the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of others. The empath does NOT have to be in the physical presence of a person to undergo these experiences. The majority of people that are empaths cannot determine their own feelings, thoughts, or attitudes from others. They mistakenly taken on these emotions and beliefs as their own and can carry it throughout their life unknowingly.

So what's the big deal about all of this? Well, let us look at this a couple of different ways and then let us see how you feel by the time you reach the end of this article.

Empath Examples

You're a child that gets teased over silly things by the children in your school. As a result, you really don't like school and have a low self esteem. The experience in school affects you so much that a belief is created as a result. This belief is created by you as a form of coping and emotional protection. The belief may be something to the extent of "others do not accept" "I am not worthy of friendship", "I do not deserve to have friends," or "I do not love myself". This one belief creates many offspring that reproduces itself. This myriad of beliefs is now lodged in your subconscious mind and you now carry this throughout your adulthood life. What you are also carrying are the emotional expressions, thoughts, and feelings of all the children from back then that made them do and say what they did to you. You have basically merged with them emotionally and mentally.

Another example:

You constantly have negative thoughts. You're critical, judgmental, and skeptical. The thing is that you know this is not the real you but no matter what you do, you can't really seem to change things. No matter what you do, nothing works. People are telling you that you are very pessimistic and you don't like it, but you can't figure out why you are this way. In this instance, a number of things are more than likely going on. First thing is that you may have empathetically merged with some life situations that have made you react negatively. Also as a result of the situation, negative beliefs have formed and are also lodged into your subconscious. What I find to be most popular is the person who is the empath has been exposed to someone else that is very negative or they have even "inherited" the negativity from someone in the family. This is usually just empathic or energetic passing down of negative thinking and can be removed in an instant.

It is natural for us to connect with each and be able to relate with each other in life. What is not healthy or balanced, is taking on the actual symptoms of the challenges of others. It is a human characteristic to be compassionate during the time of difficulty. Often times in being this way, we want to help the other person by easing the pain and guess what? You may have actually done that before. Ever have a conversation with someone who is going through rough times and then when the conversation is over, they say "whew! Glad I got that off my chest. I feel so much better!" but then you notice as they walk away that you feel like crap? Yeah, you just absorbed everything like you were an emotional sponge to that person. You haven't in fact taken away the pain, just the heaviness of their load. Later when they come back to you to talk about their problem again, you realize that it is becoming more and more challenging for you to talk with them about what they are going through. This is happening because the negative emotions of the person are like a weight that suppresses the flow of positive energy.

There are many degrees of empaths. Some people can't even leave their home because just the mixture of emotions in the atmosphere, makes them nauseas, sick, or nervous. Others can leave their home but notice that when they touch people, they actually absorb the negative symptoms into their body and then they have to find a way to release it.

Regardless of how minute or severe a person's empathic abilities, it is important that everyone get it under control. I once met a lady that said she gets the physical symptoms of her children's pregnancies. I was taken aback and couldn't believe what I heard. Another person caught me off guard and asked me if I was drinking water with lime juice in it and said she could taste it. Well, I was drinking lime water and I specifically remember stopping and saying, wow, that is pretty deep!

You have many people that believe being an empath is cool while some believe it is a curse. Regardless of what you think you do not have to go through the physical symptoms of the other person. You can consciously choose to get the information ONLY so that you know how to assist the other person. If this simple awareness is not working then you may need to remove certain beliefs and emotions on the subconscious level which will make all the difference in your life.

Thoughts on the block party Murder in Crown Hts BK neighborhood

I just wanted to get more peoples thoughts on the block party murder of a young brotha in his own car, that went down @ Washington ave & st. Johns pl in Brooklyn. I mean, why does have to be proven the statistics right; that every time there is party or even full of "Minorities"....Something tragic has to go down b4, during or after....? It kinda hit close to home...literally. I only live a few blocks from where it went down. Things like this hit me like a foot in the chest sometimes even though it doesn't dir. affect me. The fact is that it went down in my neighbor hood, touches me on some level. Mostly cause I hate to see crimes like this go unsolved. See, I roll BK hard!! So when I hear bout any young brotha, especially under 21 y/o get gunned down by another....its sad. because they kill someones brother, son, cousin, uncle, nephew...letting another black mother lose part of their heart. A Problem + Issues x Insomnia = Narcolepsy

Whether some of you may or may not have known....the past month or month and a half, I've had a case of sleeplessness insomnia. And some mild cases of narcolepsy during the day. Which problems in my life, off stage (financial and personal) have contributed to.

But this set of issues spans all the way back from my late H.S. yrs into my early college yrs.

since H.S., I've been up many late nights due to issues with school (some procrastination and fear of being unprepared b4 and during my classes, which go hand in hand) and keeping a stable job to attain my desires and needs financially.

I realize the things I have and will continue to describe may or may not mirror someone elses life problems, issues, or dilemmas. But I'm not trying to compare.

Of course when I started college, all the stereotypical things any college student has to endure made themself present to me. (financial aid, grants, adjusting to different form of schedule from previous yrs. pockets begging for change....etc.) And that was back in 2006.

Fast forward 2 yrs later and some months...Land lord issues (that made things very stressful, which stem back to about a decade, give or take) plus my previous school "releasing" me because of academic issues and standards. My own girl, or so I thought, dismissed me with no warning and ignored every form of communication I could think of...an unexpected blow. That's hard for me to admit, stung me. (even though we were cool for almost 1yr an 1/2) Not to mention a recent accident at home inolving a unstable ceilling in my room falling in on me. On a F'n Friday the 13th no less!! (you tell me if all this wasn't enough to build tension for a brotha to lose his sanity and go ape...)

But I digress, one of the only few positive things to come out of my sleeplessness, is that I'm writing more. If its God's will and me do my part I'll be putting an album and book or too out via all this pen/pencil pushing in the near future. And steady but surely, getting things back on track. And to the person who maybe reading this, somewhere telling me to suck it up and move on...you know what you can do with your lips and my rear end.

The Narcolepsy still comes and goes. And the insomia is also starting to fall back. It has been a trying past 2 and 1/2 yrs for me. But I've realized I could not be here like many, though I am.

And i'll continue to be as long as I remember that Jesus and Poetry is my savior. (P.I.M.S.)
